Deacon Rodgers is an absolute blessing to the population re-entering society. Him & his caring group of ministers genuinely care about all of the men & women they interact with and want to help them succeed. I witnessed him and his ministers lead classes in the Hampton City Jail while they listened and taught the inmates with no judgement. It was truly heartwarming to witness the way this ministry cares about a population that normally is invisible and tends to be discarded by most. During covid restrictions, Deacon Rodgers and his ministry did anything they could, including moving their schedules around and navigating challenging technology to get the word of God to the inmates. This is only the beginning for this ministry, and I am confident they will do great things for the community.

Deacon Rogers and his team are an intricate part of the Hampton Sheriff's Office inmate programs. They have demonstrated an infectious passion and commitment. This is not an obligation to them, but a genuine call from God and a belief in each man they encounter. What I admire most about this group is they understand the importance of the individual spiritually, emotionally, and physically. That means Deacon Roger's and The Second Half Ministries 'job is not complete until an individual has an opportunity to experience true healing. They are in the trenches for the long haul. Our organization is better because of groups such as these. This is a community role model.
